Prefabricated houses of cylindrical shape are produced from a number of shell rings, each assembled from three or four segmental concrete arches. Horizontal and vertical partitions divide the space into rooms and peripheral segments which can be used for the installation of pipes and cables or for the accommodation of cupboards, flush-fitting cookers etc. Doors and windows are provided in the end walls of the house. The concrete shells are coated during mfr with a layer of expanded polystyrene for heat insulation. The basement segment can be embedded in the ground or supported on stilts. Such a house requires little space for the transport of the prefabricated parts to any building site and is easily assembled from mass produced units.
|
