A control for a duplex copier has a programmed sorting system for providing sets of similar copies or runs of copies in book form, ready for binding. The control feeds the originals in a set order and has a holding stack for them. A central processor controls the machine and provides the user with a wide range of programmes, for different types of original. The original feed can be automatic, from a stack, or amnual. In the manual case the machines waits for each original so that the user can adjust the copy order.
