The method of mfr. involves filling a heating pipe subjected to thermal treatment with a vaporisable medium. The medium (3) is loaded into a container (4) which is then inserted into the open pipe (1). The pipe is then sealed shut and is subjected to the thermal treatment, the container being destroyed inside it. Before insertion, the container can be enclosed in a protective sleeve (5) which is resistant to high thermal loads. The pipe is sealed shut by pinching the end together and then welding it (9). The walls of the pipe are lined with a capillary system (2) as is usual in heating pipes.
