<p>New process is claimed for the prodn of light petroleum, other hydrocarbons and, possibly, rubber and fertiliser from materials of vegetable origin. In this process, raw material with high xylose content, expediently in coarsely or finely chopped form, is heated under dry conditions to at least 60 deg C, the resulting vapour is condensed, and the condensate is opt fractionated in a conventional manner. Prodn of light petroleum and other useful products such as other hydrocarbons, rubber and fertilisers from vegetable materials that would otherwise be treated as waste. Energy consumption is low, and the process can be carried out in usual distn equipment.</p> |
