Cutter for lengths of carpet from roll - has slide blade which moves along slot in support tube

The appliance for cutting carpet and similar material to a required length has two side plates which carry spindles (11) to support the roll of carpet. These side plates support a tube (1) above the carpet roll. The tube has a longitudinal slot in its upper wall. A cylindrical block (3) slides inside the tube and carries an arm (4) which projects through the slot. The arm carries a blade (6) which is pressed downwards by a handle (13) onto the carpet which is placed over the slot. A spring loaded arm (8) presses guide rollers (7) onto the carpet.
