Refractory lining for furnaces, esp. for coke oven doors - where common anchor bolts hold both permanent lining and replaceable lining

On a furnace wall or door is a permanent lining (3a), and then a replaceable wear-resistant lining (3b), both held by common anchor bolts (5) located in recesses on each side of the panels (9) forming lining (3a). Bolts (5) carry plates anchoring panels (9), and the ends of the bolts have a transverse hole (8) in which a bolt (14) can be placed. Lining (3b) is assembled from bricks (21), which each contain a recess for bolt (5), and a hole (16) for insertion of bolt (14) in hole (8); holes (16) are then filled with a refractory protecting bolts (14) from the heat. Rapid and simple replacement of lining (3b) is achieved when it becomes worn.
