The chair has a back rest (12) formed of two lengthwise parallel struts (13) to which a flexible plastics back rest material is fixed, the back rest frame (12) has a bottom transverse strut(14') under which grips at least one strip (30) of the bottom of the back rest material (11). The back rest (11) has fixture grooves (21) which are hooked in cross-section, on the lengthwise struts (13). A pocket (15) which is open underneath is formed at the back, and fits over the grooved (21) lengthwise struts (13).
