The device feeds a recorder chart, tape or paper strip during a recording or playback operation. The chart (16) is kept in a roll (43) in a container (42) and it is pulled from the roll between two guide plates (3,4). There are several fixed electrodes arranged in three groups of four (5,6,7,8). There is a further electrode (9), nipping the chart against a counter-roller (22). The electrode (9) consists of a roller with a spring suspension system (21). Corresponding electrodes in the three groups are connected in parallel, and they are also connected in parallel to resistors (10,11,12,13) and to terminals (32,33,34,35) on a control circuit (14). The electrode roller (9) is connected (26) to the negative terminal of the power supply and the resistors (10,11,12,13) are connected in parallel to the positive terminal.
