The alarm clock has a case on which a figure of a cockerel is mounted, or which is itself formed in the shape of a cockerel. The alarm uses a tone generator which provides a simulated cock crow. When the latter is provided the head of the cockerel may be tipped up, the beak opened and the wings moved etc. The figure of the cockerel may be made of metal, plastics, or ceramics and in the case where the clock is incorporated in the body of the figure it may have a hinged cover for the clock face. In the case where the clock acts as the base on which the figure of the cockerel is mounted, it may be combined with a radio or tape player.
