Ring heat shield contg. cast refractory mass - and used on underside of bottom pour stopper on casting ladle to prevent overheating of stopper

Below the stopper is a horizontal ring disc (I) made of sheet metal; and on the underside of (I) is a honeycomb ring grid filled with a refractory cast mass. Grid is pref attached to (I) by welding. The heat shield is pref used below a rotary stopper; and spacers are pref used between the top surface of the grid and the underside of (I). A ring flange is pref welded on both the bore and periphery of (I). The overall result is that the heat shield has a long working life.
