The ultrasonic head is pivotable within a predetermined angle by means of a motor drive and an efficiently functioning reduction drive. The latter is constituted by a drive belt system (13,14). The belt seatings (9,10,11,12) attached to the driving elements encompass, at least partially, one side of the motor (6) and one side of the head (1). The drive belts can be toothed belts driven by toothed wheels or wheel segments on the side of the motor and head. An angle setter (7) can be assigned additionally to the motor and head and integrated by its own connection in the belt system between the motor and head.
