1292620 Disazo dyestuffs CIBA GEIGY AG 23 Oct 1969 [4 Nov 1968] 51996/69 Heading C4P Disazo dyestuffs of the formula (wherein one Y is H and the other is SO 3 H; R 1 and R 2 each represents an aromatic residue containing at least one sulphonic acid group; and one X represents a fibre-reactive alkoxy-halogeno-triazine group wherein an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical containing an oxygen or sulphur atom is bonded to the alkoxy radical bound to the aromatic residue via -NH- and the other represents H or a fibrereactive acyl residue bound to the aromatic residue via -NH-) are prepared by (1) coupling diazo compounds of amines X-R 1 -NH 2 and X-R 1 -NH 2 with 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene - 3,6 or 4,6 - disulphonic acid, preferably first in an acid medium to insert -N=N-R 2 -X and then in an alkaline medium to insert -N=N-R 1 -X; or (2) by condensation of a compound of the formula (wherein R1 1 and R1 2 each represents a sulphonated aromatic residue one of which contains an acylatable amino group and the other of which may contain such a group) with an appropriate alkoxy-dihalogenotriazine and if necessary with a further acylating agent containing a fibrereactive residue. The starting materials for this second method are prepared by conventional methods. The dyestuffs are used for dyeing a wide variety of fibrous materials in shades of blue or greenish blue.
