PURPOSE:The titled water-in-oil type cosmetic having improved stability, water retention, folding strength, and spread to the skin, causing a little contamination resulting from microorganisms, obtained by adding a gel consisting of a surface active agent having a HLB not more than a specific value and water to an oily ingredient, followed by emulsification. CONSTITUTION:A gel consisting of a surface active agent having a HLB not more than 9 and water is added to an oily ingredient and emulsified to give a water-in- oil type emulsified stick cosmetic. The cosmetic is prepared readily, has improved stability, water retention, folding strength, and spread to the skin, and causes a small contamination resulting from microorganisms. Sorbitan fatty acid ester, polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil, etc. may be used as the surface active agent, and its blending ratio is preferably 0.5-10wt% based on the total composition. The addition of an acid, e.g., citric acid, etc. or its alkali metallic salt to the gel improves the stability and strength of gel, and makes the addition of a preservative (glycols) to the emulsion system easy. |
