PURPOSE:To provide the rubber damper, capable of obtaining a large damping stroke and a high load bearing capacity, by making the inner diameter of an outer projection and the outer diameter of an inner projection substantially equal to each other, and holding a rubber member between these two projections disposed at different lengths. CONSTITUTION:A lower retainer 4, washer 5 formed with an annular inner projection, lower rubber bush 6 and annular outer projection 7 fitted on the outer peripheral portion of the bush 6 are fitted, in the above order, on a stepped part 2 of a piston rod 1 used in an oil damper. Then, an annular, upper inner projection 9 fitted in a vehicle frame 8, upper rubber bush 10, annular upper outer projection 11, upper retainer 12 and washer 12' are further fitted on the stepped part 2, and they are held in place by means of a nut 13. Here, arrangement is such that the outer diameter of the inner projection is equal to or smaller than the inner diameter of the outer projection and the length of the outer projection is smaller than that of the inner projection, so that the damping function is exerted in two progressive stages. |
