PURPOSE:To enhance accuracy and response in ignition as well as to simplify the structure and reduce the cost of an ignition timing control device for internal combustion engines by switching two or more signal generating means in accordance with occurence of knocking. CONSTITUTION:The distributor device 30 concerned herein a composed of a contact breaker 34 mating with an ignition coil 31 and a distributor element 35 mating with ignition plugs 21-24, and the 4-cylinder engine 10 is set, for example, in an order as 11-13-14-12. A vacuum advance device 37 is installed on a breaker plate 36 at the contact breaker 34. At this breaker plate 36 are arranged three contact points 41- 43 as signal generating means for the contact breaker rotor 40. These contact points 41-43 are equipped with contact arms 41a-43a, earth points 41b-43b and heel parts 42c-43c for the rotor 40. An ignition timing selector circuit 50 switches over connection to the ignition coil 31 into, for example, contact points 42-41 in case knocking has occurred during operation with the contact points 42, 43, so that the timing at engine is delayed compared with that at the time of knocking occurrence. Knocking can be thus prevented. |
