Artificial modification of atmospheric precipitations comprises dispersing, in an atmosphere capable of giving rise to precipitation, e.g. a cloud or fog, micro-droplets of a liquid compsn. contg. dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) as major component. The micro-droplets pref. have an average dia. of 1-10, esp. 1-6, microns and the compsn. pref. contains over 50, pref. over 80 wt.% DMSO..
