During transport and storage, the longitudinal (1) and cross strips (3, 4) of the frame are folded parallel to each other but at the place of construction the cross strips articulate about the longitudinal elements until they are perpendicular to them. The traverses then brace as well as space the longitudinal elements to produce a lightweight frame. Depending on the construction, the frame can be used singly with fixings on either side, or it can be used in pairs when each frame is fixed, braced and spaced with respect to the other.
