The electric frier comprises a rectangular casing (2) with a lid (5) attached by hinges (3,4) along the back edge. Inside the casing is a wire mesh filter (11,12) forming a slightly smaller rectangular basket. The basket is attached to two upright posts (16) by a wire support frame (13). The basket may slide vertically in supports (17) to be either immersed in cooking oil or raised above it. Two levers (15,14) are attached to the front bottom corner of the casing, the vertical basket support (16a), and the hinged lid (5). As the lid is raised, the two levers together lift the filter basket up out of the oil, lifting out all fragments of food on the filter. This avoids the need for emptying and cleaning or the use of a filtering pump.
