The appts. enables the user to perform gymnastic exercises, esp. therapy movements. It consists of a frame (10) with a runner (24) which can be moved horizontally in a lengthwise direction. There is a support base (28) for the person lying on it; and two upward-projecting supports (30) at each side of one end. Foot or hand grips (31) are attached to the supports (30). A brake is positioned between the runner (24) and the frame (10), and consists of a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit and at least one compression or suction space with throttle valve.
