The invention comprises a compound of the formula and its preparation by reacting phenylbutazone-(4 - n - butyl - 3,5 - dioxo - 1,2 - diphenyl-pyrazolidine) with clofexamide (p-chlorophenoxyacetic acid b -diethylaminoethylamide) in a diluent medium. When water is the diluent, clofexamide hydrochloride may be used. The phenylbutazone and clofexamide are preferably used in substantially equimolecular proportions. A pharmaceutical composition comprises a salt as defined above, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent, for use as an anti-inflammatory agent for administration orally in the form of tablets or gelules, or for external use in suppository or pomade form.
