A tyre tread takes the form of a rubber band with a smooth surface and radial openings to admit surface water to a series of channels which underly the tread. Used for suitable new tyres with integral tread beads or for retread systems. Compared with conventional treads having heavy section tread blocks separated by open, intersecting channels, the perforated tread face provides better grip on smooth wet or dry roads, suppresses aquaplaning, runs cooler and more quietly and is more wear-resistant. |
