Heat protection for fluorescent lamp housing - includes overheating cut=out and insulation layer enclosing components inside trough-shaped housing

The housing for a fluorescent lamp includes a trough shaped member (3) under the lamp tube, with an upright at each end, supporting the lamp between them. Inside the trough are blocks (4) containing components such as switching members, capacitors, starters and an integrated circuit. These blocks are enclosed by an insulating foil about 0.5 mm thick, with its ends overlapping underneath. Incorporated at the end of each block is a safety device formed by a temp.-sensitive cut-out to prevent overheating of the coil windings. This temperature is limited to 350 deg. C. In another design, the blocks are protected by an insulation layer covering them and extending between the flanged sides of the trough. Under the insulation layer is a metal layer.
