<p>Eye protection plate for a crash helmet worn by a vehicle driver, consists of multiple layers. A support layer of a plastics material such as polycarbonate, forms a shatterproof layer. Above this is a thin film anti-reflection coating and below it, a light reducing metallised layer of Au, or alternatively of Ag, Al, Cr or Ni/Cr. This layer can be connected by wiring to a heating source or may be covered with a transparent protective coating of e.g. SiO2. The heating source may be a battery or rechargeable accumulator retained inside a section of the helmet. A solar cell may be used. Further accessories are specified.</p> |
