The process indicates the depths of flushing gas concentrations when drilling deep wells, and the progress of the drill bit, using a gas-analysis apparatus and a depth indicator. The rising and falling values occurring over a time period and determined by the appts. are transformed into BCD-data, after which the parallel data is converted to series data. From this the gas ingredients are identified by computer, in which calibration data is stored, and which prints out analysis results on completion.
