A hot water generator, forming part of a heating system, and an electrically heated hot water reservoir, taking over supply to taps, hen the heating system is turned off, are involved in supplying a number of taps with hot water. With the heating turned off, the water to be warmed is conveyed first to the hot water generator (2), and from there to the switched-on electric reservoir (3). With the heating turned on, it is conveyed to the hot water generator via the disconnected reservoir. Three-way valves, magnetic valves or individual slides may be used in a valve assembly (8,11,13).
