PURPOSE:To facilitate the change in the stroke of a gas spring which is used to adjust the height of a desk or the like, by providing a piston rod with a stop member and enabling the adjustment in the longitudinal direction of an engagement member against which the stop member collides. CONSTITUTION:One end of a piston rod 7 is secured on a piston 3 which reciprocates in an outer cylinder 1. The other end of the rod 7 is hermetically protruded through a seal member 8 and a guide member 9. A stop member 10 is secured on the protruded part of the rod. An engagement assisting member 11 is fixed on the peripheral surface of the outer cylinder 1 near the guide member 9. A cylindrical engagement member 14 is screwed on the threaded part 12 of the engagement assisting member 11 so that the stop member 10 collides against a stop section 16. To change the stroke of action, a locking nut 17 is loosened, the engagement member 14 is rotated and the engagement section 16 is moved to a desired position. |
