PURPOSE:To improve the starting characteristics of environmental temperature changes and the like by a method wherein a constant flow pump to supply pressure liquid ink for a jet nozzle is driven in synchronization with a period of scanning drive of a recording head which makes reciprocating scanning. CONSTITUTION:A piston 13 and a diaphragm 14 are reciprocated in an axial direction by a plunger 18 and a solenoid 19 to control the pressure in pressure chambers 15, 16. In order to limit pulsation components of ink flow discharged intermittently from the pressure chamber 15, a pressure accumulating chamber 33 is provided and its quantity is set as small as possible. Therefore, the transient characteristics are excellent and quick recovery to a normal status is made possible even when there occurs a sudden temperature change. The pump motion for recording and scanning only in a forward scanning, for example, is made in synchronization with the motion for nonrecording period. |
