The title process involves the hydrogenation of a mixt. of pulverized coal and recycle oil (derived in the operation) in the presence of H and a catalyst consisting of an emulsified mixt. of H2O and a compd. such as (NH4)6Mo7O24. Other metal compds.(Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, etc.) are suggested.
