The equipment parts off strip material along an oblique edge by means of a knife, being particularly for cutting wallpaper to the desired dimensions. It comprises a cutting beam or rail (11) adjustable for length and with a guide edge for the knife (15), slewing horizontally between two supporting clamps (12) at the ends. The beam can be of two box-sections telescoping together, each with in its flat top face a lengthwise slot, in line with that in the other section, acting as a knife guide. The sections can be lockable together by a clamping screw.
