<p>The material is fed through inlet pipes located in one end wall of an inner, stationary and cylindrical drum (3), which is provided with a longitudinal slot at its lowest part. A second, perforated cylindrical drum (4) rotates on the peripery of drum (3), so that material flowing into the slot in drum (3) travels out of the holes in the second drum (4) as drops. The drops fall onto a conveyor- or cooling belt where they solidify as a granulate or gel and travel away from the drums. Drum (4) pref. contains holes in rows parallel to its axis, the latter being located above, and at 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the conveyor belt. A scraper pref. removes surplus material from the periphery of drum (4). The device is esp. useful for mfg. granulate from a molten polymer.</p> |
