The installation comprises an automaton which is located at a control location, such as a police or aid post and is able to verify the unhooking of a phone at the phone station which is called. The automaton is connected by a phone line through a telephone exchange to the controlled phones. The automaton has a dialling device for calling each phone station and an output stage which registers the results of the test calls, the dialling device having a memory in which the calling codes of the station and a control programme for controlling the station testing are recorded. The system provides automatic phone testing remote from the phone stations.
