Removal of sulphur di:oxide from hot exhaust gases - using scrubber with lime slurry spray followed by filter

Hot exhaust gas is treated to remove SO2 or other undesirable acidic component by use of an absorbent in the form of a water soln. or slurry. The reaction prod. is dried by the heat in the gas and the resulting dry prod. is then filtered out on a filter. The absorbent is sprayed in a finely divided form into a reaction chamber and mixed with the hot gas stream. The reaction chamber is the centre of a filter and the gas is retained here for 1-15 sec. to achieve complete surface evapn. The gas then passes through filter elements on which the by now dry reaction prods. are deposited. The process is for removing SO2 from hot exhaust gas streams. The process has high efficiency, is reliable to operate and has low investment costs compared to previous processes.
