<p>The casing (4) is constructed of two layers of plastics pref. filled with polyurethane foam. Division plates (10) are incorporated so as to form a three pass air flow having an inlet (1) in one corner of the casing and an outlet (2) in the diagonally opposite corner. The casing is packed with aluminium or aluminium alloy swarf i.e. metal shaving, painted matt-black. The contents are held in place either by a mesh or directly by the glass outer panel. Solar radiation through the transparent panel heats the matt-black aluminium swarf. Air from the supply fan enters the panel at the inlet (1) and is heated as it passes through the collector to the outlet (2).</p> |
