Process for the preparation of nocardicin C, D, E, F and G

Processes for the preparation of compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R is the group <IMAGE> and X is -CH(NH2)- or -CO- or R is the group <IMAGE> and X is -C(NOH)- or -CH(NH2)-. Preparation takes place by cultivation of a Nocardia strain which produces nocardicin C, D, E, F and/or G, preferably Nocardia uniformis subsp. tsuyamanensis ATCC 12301, in an aqueous nutrient medium under aerobic conditions, and isolation of the compounds from the culture broth. The compounds and their salts have an antibiotic action; they can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases.
