Process and device for processing bilge water containing oil. A portion of the bilge water is evaporated so as to increase the salt content in the remaining liquid phase. When a given salt content is reached, the emulsion is broken allowing the separation of oil and water by known processes. The device provided evaporates the bilge water in an evaporator (32). It further comprises devices (29) to separate and condensate steam and devices (34) to remove from the evaporator (32) the reduced bilge water having a high salt content.
