The transmission system, uses optical conductors (3a..3d) embedded in the moulded plastics structural components (2) of the aircraft (1). Coupling points (4) are spaced along the embedded conductors (3a..3d) for signal input and output. Pref. the aircraft wings are made of reinforced platics, with the embedded optical conductors (3a,3b,3c) incorporated in the reinforcing web and allowing signals to be fed from sensors (7) at the tips of the wings to a reception circuit (8) within the fuselage. Where the wings are formed in sections, an input/output coupling point is provided between each pair of adjacent sections. Further signals are fed to control receivers (6) associated with the engines mounted on the wings from a control processor (5) within the aircraft. (DS).
|
