Powdered fuels obtd. from viscous oils - by mixing with lime followed by hydration

High-viscosity mineral oils or similar high-viscosity oils or solids (pref. 40-70 pts.) are intimately mixed with lime (pref. 60-30 pts.), which is then hydrated with the stoichiometric amt. of water. The prod. is a powdered fuel, easy to store and transport, which can be fed to powder firing installations. Further additives may be used to improve the handling of the powder, esp. a hydrophobic anti-caking agent. The powdered prepn. may be used alone or as a mixt. with a finely-powdered solid fuel, e.g. coal, liqrite or wood dust. The mixt. is used in power stations and for the power plant of large ships. The lime improves the efficiency of combustion of the fuel.
