<p>A generator of a function exponential w.r.t. time comprises a stove with parallel inputs and outputs, means of incrementing the content of the stove and a controlling clock. The stove is loaded initially with an initial predetermined value corresp. to the initial value of the exponential. The means of incrementing the content of the stove increment is at successive instants sepd. by intervals of time of predetermined fixed duration by a quantity corresp. to the value contd. in the stove at a particular instant multiplied by a fixed and predetermined coefficient corresp. to the desired progression of the value of the function during that time. The clock is connected to the means of incrementation and delivers pulses of fixed frequency defining the duration of the intervals of time. The generator is applicable partic. to the simulation of divergence of a nuclear reactor, for the standardisation of a reactivity meter but can be applied to all the areas which necessitate the generation in real time of an exponential, e.g. in thermodynamics where it is necessary to represent the variations w.r.t. time of temp. gradients or in nuclear physics. A reactivity meter is used to measure the reactivity of a reactor giving the principal characteristics of the reactor, e.g. the efficiency of the control rods or the temp. coefficient of the moderator. The function generator is of simpler construction and allows exponential functions to be obtd. with greater precision than existing function generators.</p> |
