Rigid handle mouldings with soft linings anchored mechanically - for simpler assembly than use of adhesives or welding

Composite structures comprising a rigid core or frame partly covered with a more flexible or compressible lining are assembled using a rigid moulding with integral studs or channels to which a lining with a suitably shaped interface can be mechanically clipped. Used for mfr. of handles for e.g. suitcases, furniture, vehicles, etc., in preference to use of welded or adhesive-coated interfaces. Pref. one of the interfaces features a series of small superficial spikes to inhibit longitudinal slipping of undercut tongue and groove pattern interlocks. More complex profiles may be joined using a rigid or semi-rigid double-sided channel as a mechanical interface between the main rigid body and a soft cover profile.
