LIGHT GRID WITH SINGLE LIGHT SOURCE

The light grid generates a signal in case of an undesirable intervention in the working space of a machine. The light grid is coupled to a light source (1) the light beam of which is distributed over several optical channels (6), by means of a light distribution unit. A light reception device also composes this assembly. The light distribution unit is provided with as many directional couplers (3) as there are channels, the secondary light conduits of which are adjacent to the light conduits (4) of the corresponding optical channels (6) and which are connected by another light conduit (2) with the light source (1) and with one another in series. The electrodes of a directional coupler (3) are connected with an evaluation and control device (9). The directional couplers form electronically controlled light switchings by means of which the light pulses of the light source (1) are successively and cyclically directed into the optical channels (6).
