The appts. comprises a first connector which is connectible to a sub distributor. The connector is formed by insulating block having a number of openings registrable with the subdistributor terminals and containing resilient piston contacts. The connector has clips for securing to the subdistributor. The appts. has a second connector comprising an insulating plate with contact leaves engageable with the contacts in the distributor Each pair of piston contacts is bridged by a light emitting diode which can be energised by transmission of a signal down the corresponding phone lines from the test apparatus. Another plug is provided to allow the tester to be connected to an external measuring device. Internal circuits allow the appts. to be linked with any one of the pairs of cables.
