PURPOSE: To improve operability and security by providing a password input device with a communication means for a portable medium and constituting a terminal machine so that its result is only transmitted. CONSTITUTION: The portable medium 3 has a password code storage means 7 and a 1st portable medium identification number storage means 12, and the password input device 2 has a password input means 4 and communication means 14 and 15 for the portable medium 3 and terminal machine 1, which has a 2nd portable medium identification number storage means 11 and a portable medium identification number collating means 10. Consequently, the bearer himself or herself of the portable medium 3 can insert the portable medium 3 into the password input device 2 and only the result of collation is transmitted from the password input device 2 to the terminal machine 1 to make it difficuit to wiretap a password code, thereby remarkably improving operability and security. |
