Shock resistant closure for plastics container - has rigid annular flange on lid fitting in stiff annular rim in neck opening of container

The shock-proof closure is intended for a plastics container. It comprises a lid (4) whose diameter is smaller than the maximum diameter of the container and which fits flush in the top (1) of the container. The top (1) has an axially projecting upward annular rim (2,3) around the inside of the top opening whilst the lid has a downward annular flange (5) which fits inside the rim (2,3). The rim and the flange are so dimensioned that their rigidity presents a high resistance to bending under shock load. The flange (5) may be solid or may consist of two concentric flanges connected via radial ribs.
