Cut-off point in cyclone classifier - controlled by intermediate laterally deformable nozzle

Cyclone classifier for sand slurries tangentially entering a cylindrical chamber surmounted by an overflow chamber has under the chamber a conical housing terminating in a circular outlet. The base outlet is a slot formed of resilient plates which are forced apart to allow passage of the coarser material accumulating in the base outlet when this material applies sufficient static prssure. Between the housing outlet and the base outlet body is an adjustable nozzle for determining the cut-off point and consisting of an initially tubular length of rubber or plastic whose central zone is laterally compressed into elliptical cross-section. The classifier can be adjusted to different grades of sand without using complex control means.
