Contact pressure measurement in electrical plug connectors - using pneumatic piston displacing test rod and supply pressure measurement

The testing and measuring method of the contact pressure of contact springs in spring guides for plug connectors with pins in a given array ensures that all contact springs are tested. The testing can be performed after manufacture or before assembly. Each spring (1) is operated by a test pin (2) on a lever (3) mounted at one end and displaced from its rest position by a pneumatically operated piston. When the lever is raised, a pressure chamber (5) independent of the piston operating pressure but under the same pressure is opened. This occurs when the contact pressure is exceeded and its causes a pressure switch to produce a signal which activates a sensor measuring the instantaneous pressure in the common supply channel (7). This is converted into a value corresp. to the contact pressure.
