<p>An organic compsn. of animal origin according to claim of the parent patent comprises a fibrous protein rich in hydroxyproline. Im the patent of addition the protein is derived from animal tissues from the group. skin, tendons, bones and intestinal wall. The tissues have pref. been previously rid of other constituents of animal matter. Prior to being used as a filler the compsn. is pref. thermally or chemically treated or is impregnated with a liquid which is pref. a fatty material of plant or animal original or a synthetic fatty material. The friction material also incorporates reinforcing agents, stabilisers, lubricants, colourants, antistatic agents, flame retardants, fungicides, plasticisers and/or other (in)organic prod. The matrix. if polymeric, pref. comprises a thermosetting phenosplast resin. The compsn. is used as filler in a matrix (pref. metal or polymer) for the prodn. of wear resistant friction materials. The compsn. imparts enhanced wear resistance to the material.</p> |
