摘要 1289896 Respirators UNITED AIRCRAFT CORP 9 June 1970 [17 June 1969 (2)] 27768/ 70 Heading A5T [Also in Divisions G3 and F2] A fluidically controlled respirator comprises a normally closed valve 12 between a source of gas 10 and a mouthpiece 22, a normally open valve 26 connecting the mouthpiece and the atmosphere, said valves being actuated intermittently and synchronously from first outlet 64 of a first fluid amplifier 30 via lines 68, 69, the control ports 60 and 74 of said first fluid amplifier being connected respectively to outputs 54 and 72 of second and third fluid amplifiers 32, 34, the control ports 46, 48 of said second and third amplifiers being connected by line 44 to mouthpiece 22 so as to be responsive to the breathing of a patient. The respirator preferably includes an ejector 24 between valves 12 and 26, a nebulizer 27 upstream of valve 26 and a flow adjusting means 16 upstream of ejector 24. An adjustable restrictor 43 may be used to regulate the switching pressure level of fluid amplifier 30 which is preferably of the flip-flop type, the second and third amplifiers being of a type wherein a power stream is directed to a preferred output. A valve comprising a balloon 50 which can seat against an orifice 52 is interposed between mouthpiece 22 and third fluid amplifier 34. The respirator may further comprise means for timing the delay between exhalation and inhalation, which means may consist of fluid amplifiers 33, 137, back pressure switch 35 and a timing mechanism 82. A line connects second output 62 of amplifier 30 to control port 78 of amplifier 33 the output 79 of which is connected by line 80 to a control port of amplifier 137, output 90 of which is taken by line 92 to timing mechanism 82. Air passes preferentially into a timing element 49 rather than restrictor 100 until such a pressure is built up in said timing element that air will pass via restrictor 100 to a timing element 51 causing a diaphragm 110 to close an orifice 112 which prevents fluid flow along line 118, thereby causing fluid flow in the back pressure switch 35 to be diverted from an output 116 to another output 124. Output 124 of back pressure switch is connected to a control port 127 of fluid amplifier 30 to switch the output thereof from output 62 to output 64 thereby causing the respiration cycle to be repeated at intervals determined by the time taken for a signal to pass from amplifier 137 to back pressure switch 35.
