A door panel comprises a frame of wood or hollow metal members having three sides of a rectangle sandwiched between a pair of sheet metal plates or skins 2, 3 adhered to the frame, defining within the door a volume or chamber containing a filler 17 of honeycomb (cardboard) or foamed synthetic material e.g. based on polyurethacrylester preferably formed in situ, extending from one skin 2 to the other 3, and a closure member e.g. in the form of a strip of inverted U-section, at the underside of the door defining the lower extremity of the chamber and arranged to form a recess extending along the underside of the door between the skins, so that a portion of the bottom of the door may be removed to fit a particular door opening, several constructions of metal skins and the method of fixing them on the frame together with an apparatus for constructing the frame are described. |
