1,217,145. Container closures. WADDING- TON & DUVAL (HOLDINGS) Ltd. 13 Feb., 1968 [20 Feb., 1967], No. 8033/67. Heading B8T. A container comprises an integral neck having an annular recess (6) in the bore and a tubular plug closure 10 having an annular flexible barblike flange 12 for engagement with the recess. The plug is a tight fit in the neck and has its bore closed by a membrane 14. A line of weakness 16 defines a pull out portion which is substantially key-hole shaped and is removed by means of a handle 20. A cap 22 can then snap into the bore and serve as a temporary closure, with a handle 26 for removal. The cap could be a standard screw cap to engage screw threads on the neck. The key-hole shaped opening enables air to flow into the container through the narrow portion as the contents are discharged through the wider portion. |
