A closure device for bottles which ensures that a cap is placed in a particular position relative to the bottle comprises a sleeve 4 on the bottle neck and a tubular cap which has a cylindrical skirt 10 formed with projections 15 which snap over a collar 5 on the sleeve 4. The upper end of the sleeve 4 provides at least one pair of ramps 6, (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), which meet in a trough 8. The inner surface of the cap has a corresponding probe 13 which slides down the surface of one of the ramps until its end 14 is located in the trough 8. In this position the projections 15 snap over the collar 5. On rotation of the cap from the closed position, the end 14 of the probe 13 slides up the other ramp, forcing the projections 15 to move over the collar 5, thereby releasing the cap. Alternatively, the ramps may be formed on the cap and the probe on the sleeve 4. |
